This is the information page for the Roeland Park Stingrays - the summer team for the city of Roeland Park managed by Johnson County Park & Recreation District. This page will be updated regularly in May, June and July. At any other time of year, you may call the JCPRD Registration office at 913-831-3359.
Weekly Announcements:
Week of May 31
There will be a parent meeting on the evening of Thursday, June 3rd at 7pm in room four of the Roeland Park Community Center. Please plan to attend the meeting whether you have registered or not.
Stroke & Turn Clinic (for officials) will be held at Prairie Village Pool 9-10:30am on Saturday, June 5th.
Computer Operations clinic (for volunteers) will be held at Matt Ross Community Center 11am-Noon on Saturday, June 5th.
All interested volunteers are welcome to attend.
Week of June 7
Practice begins!!! Practices will be 9-10am at Roeland Park Aquatic Center. Our first meet will be on Thursday, June 10th. Not much time to get ready to swim, but a great opportunity to see where we are right now. Please plan on being there. Parents, we are hosting this meet, so we will need all the help we can get with running the meet. We'll need timers, a head timer, a bull pen worker, starter, stroke & turn judge, runners, etc. Please contact coach derek to volunteer. Thank you in advance.
Week of June 14
Second week of practice and we are already going strong! The first meet, we were outnumbered, but swam well. This week, we have a tri-meet at Shawnee with Merriam. Please arrive between 5:00 and 5:15pm. We will have our second pre-competitive meet this week (with Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke events) also at the Shawnee Pool. If you need directions to the pool, there is a linkt to the map at the bottom of this page.
Week of June 21
Third week of practice and the rain is gone. We've had a lot of heat and more good practices. This week, the tri-meet is at Lenexa with Shawnee (again) and the pre-competitive meet is at Fairway.
Week of June 28
We are going strong into our fourth week of the season and our fourth meet is coming up. Can you believe we'll be less than two weeks from all-city championships by the middle of the week?!? We host the Overland Park Waves on Thursday for our final home meet of the year. Parents, please plan to help out with the meet so we can keep it running smoothly for the kids (and eat pizza early). There is no pre-competitive meet this week due to the holiday weekend.
Team information:
Practices will be held at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center Monday-Friday 9:00am-10:00am. Practices will start on Monday, June 7th, 2010 and finish on Wednesday, July 14th. For questions regarding the Roeland Park Stingrays, contact head coach Derek Shipp at 913.236.1213.
