Dear Blazer Families,
We are very pleased to announce Ann Gibler as the Head Site Coach of the Blue Valley West program.
Ann has been the Age Group Coach for our sister team on the Missouri side at the Lee’s Summit pool since September 2006. She has been the primary coach for swimmers responsible for five Missouri Valley LSC records and 10 Blazers team records. Ann has placed a swimmer on both the 2009 – 2010 Short Course and Long Course National Age Group Top 10 lists, in addition to 10+ top 20 rankings. Ann was a member of 2010 Missouri Valley All Star staff and 2010 Missouri Valley Zone staff.
Coach Ann graduated from the University of Southern California where she swam on the Varsity team and received a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism. Ann has been coaching for more than ten years, including acting as a head coach for the Suburban Swim League and an assistant coach for area high school programs.
Ann places a heavy emphasis on stroke technique and is known for having well-rounded swimmers. She prides herself in the fact that the majority of her swimmers qualify for their highest championship meet in three or more strokes, rather than only reaching their highest level in a specialty event. Ann will begin her coaching responsibilities on August 23rd. We are thrilled to have this familiar face and firsthand knowledge of her abilities.
New Head Coach, Gardner Howland commented "Ann Gibler's coaching experience, swimming aptitude, organizational skills and communication style make her ideally suited for this position. Ann's KC Blazer roots along with the outside perspective she gained at USC give her a unique and valuable set of qualifications. I'm looking forward to working with her and the rest of the KC Blazer staff."
